At an election held at the house of H. R. and L. J. Helmer in the town of DeKalb and county of DeKalb and State of Illinois on the 4th day of November A.D. 1856 the following persons received the number of votes annexed to their respective names for the following described offices to wit:  Abram Lincoln & Frederick Hecker had one hundred & eighty seven votes each for electors at large and

David L. Phillips had one hundred and eighty seven votes each for district electors.

William H. Bissel had one hundred & eighty seven votes for Governor.

John Wood had one hundred & eighty seven votes for Lieutenant Governor.

O. N. Hatch had one hundred & eighty seven votes for Secretary of State.

Jesse R. Dubois had one hundred & eighty seven votes for Auditor of Public Accounts.

James Miller had one hundred & eighty seven votes for Treasurer.

Wm. H. Powel had one hundred & eighty votes for Congress 2nd District.
