Town Records of DeKalb Ill page 182, 1861

The Commissioners meet Apr 20th 1861 and passed a few resolutions.

E. B. Heulet elected treasurer of commissioners of board of highway

The commissioners has approved and agreed to have the poll tax reduced to two days and agreed to raise 20 cts on every one hundred dollars.

Under the new act the commissioner passed a resolution which should serve for three, two & one years.  E. B. Heulet is elected for two years.

Carlos Clark is elected for three years.

Benj. Gurler is elected for one year.

J. H. Simonds set off the corporation to District No. 21 the 160 acres that lays south of his place of residence.

To E B. Gilbert & Timothy Richardson Justices of the peace of the town of DeKalb in the county of DeKalb and State of Illinois.  By reason of it being inconvenient to attend to the office of road commissioner, I hereby resign the office of commissioner of highways for said town and respectfully ask that you may accept my resignation.

The above resignation is this 24th day of October 1861 accepted.
