At an election held at the Eagle Hotel in DeKalb in the County of DeKalb and State of Illinois on the seventeenth day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty two for the adoption or rejection of the Constitution and the separate articles and sections submitted the following votes were given. Viz:
One hundred and fourteen (114) votes for new constitution
One hundred and seventy six (176) votes against new constitution
One hundred and nineteen (119) votes for articles prohibiting banks
One hundred and sixty (160) votes against articles prohibiting banks
One hundred and fifteen (115) votes for exclusion of Negroes and Mulatos
One hundred and sixty (160) votes against the exclusion of Negroes and Mulatos
Two hundred and forty six (246) votes for no right of suffrage or office to Negros or Mulattoes
Six (6) votes for right of suffrage and office to Negroes and Mulattoes
One hundred and thirty three votes for laws excluding Negros and Mulattoes from coming to and voting in this state.
One hundred and forty (140) votes against laws for excluding Negros and Mulattoes from coming to and voting in this state.
One hundred & thirteen (113) votes for Congressional appointment
One hundred & sixty eight (168) votes against Congressional appointment
