Town Records of DeKalb Ill page 254, 1863

At an election held at the Eagle Hotel in the town of DeKalb in the county of DeKalb and State of Illinois on the third day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty three, the following named persons received the number of votes annexed to their respective names for the following described offices, “to wit.”

Wm. C. Tappan received one hundred and seventy three (173) votes for County Treasurer

Richard A. Smith received one hundred and thirteen (113) votes for County Treasurer

Baldwin Woodruff received one vote (1) for County Treasurer

Hiram C. Beard received two hundred and one (201) votes for School Commissioner

Dwight Crossell received eighty three (83) votes for School Commissioner

Daniel W. Lamb received two hundred and eighty one (281) votes for County Surveyor
