Knows all men by these present that we Calvin S. Colton and Rufus Hopkins of the town of DeKalb, in the county of DeKalb and state of Illinois are held and firmly bound unto Joseph F. Glidden Esq., Supervisor of the town of DeKalb aforesaid and to his successors in office in the penal sum of one hundred dollars for the payment of which will and truly be made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly, severally and firmly by these present.
Signed with our hands and sealed with our seals this 26th day of December 1867
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bounded Calvin S. Colton and Rufus Hopkins has appealed from the decision of the Commissioners of highways of the said town of DeKalb in the county of DeKalb a highway from the Brush Point road commencing at a point in the beaten tract of the travelled road running from Phineas Stevens to and westerly by Calvin S. Colton, the point is near said Colton’s house where the two roads intersect thence northerly towards Jesse Alden’s house by their order bearing date the 7th day of December A.D. 1867
Now therefore if the above bounded Calvin S. Colton shall promptly pay or cause to be paid all costs arising from said appeal in case the determination of the commissioners of highways in the premises shall not be reversed, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
