At the anual [sic] town meeting, held in the town of South Grove, County of DeKalb, State of Illinois at Casler’s Hall April 7th A. D. 1874. The meeting was called to order by M. D. Patten, Clerk of Said Town. Wm. Howe was elected Moderator who being first duly sworn by M D Patten, Clerk, entered upon the duties of his office.

The polls for the election of officers were then opened, proclamation being first made by the Clerk. The hour of two having arrived and the general miscellaneous business of the day being now in order, upon motion the following named persons were elected overseers of highways for the ensuing year in the several road Districts.

Motion That we raise Four Hundred dollers [sic] $400,00 for road & bridge purposes. Carried

Motion That we raise One Hundred and Fifty $150.00 to defray the incidental expenses of the Town. Carried

Motion That we accept of M Casler’s proposition that we have the use of his hall on the same terms and conditions as last year. Carried
