Town of DeKalb, County of DeKalb, State of Illinois
The Board of town Auditors for the town of DeKalb having met this 3rd day of September 1867 at the office of E. B. Gilbert Esq., there were present J. F. Glidden, Supervisor, E. B. Gilbert & V. D. Miller, Justices of the Peace, B. P. Bemis, Collector and E. A. Porter, Town Clerk
The following bills were presented and audited as follows and orders to be drawn for the same by the clerk
Ira Penny for services as Assessor $144.00

Amount allowed the commissioners for building
a bridge across the Kishwaukee near the Fisk place 1300.00
Amount appropriated for roads and bridges 400.00
David Price having paid claim that he paid ten dollars on old subscription of Sept 15, 1864 for furnishing the first call, it was ordered that the clerk drawn an order for the same with interest at ten per cent from Sept 15 1865. Mr. C. Colton presented a bill against the town for damages in losing a horse by falling through a defective bridge. Amt. of claim $150 on motion it was voted that we take time to satisfy us in regard to the liability of the town to pay such claims and then if necessary to audit it at some future day. There being about $140 due on Town War Bonds we do hereby order a tax to be levied of 8/10 of a mill on the dollar of the valuation of the town assessment for the purpose of paying the ball of such indebtedness.
