Aided or assisted in such duel not been knowingly the bearer of such challenge or accepted since the adoption of the constitution and that I will not be so engaged or concerned directly or indirectly in or about any such duel during my continuance in office, so help me God.

DeKalb Feb 15, 1865

The undersigned town officers and twelve free holders of the town of DeKalb in the county of DeKalb do state that a special town meeting is necessary to the interest of said town for the purpose of voting the amount of fourteen thousand dollars to be used for the purpose of procuring substitute volunteers to fill the quota of said town under the call of the President for three hundred thousand men to take effect Feb 15th 1865. And further to authorize the town clerk provided the fourteen thousand dollars should be voted to issue the bonds of said town of DeKalb therefore bearing ten percent interest payable one, two, and three years.  We would therefore request that immediate notice be given thereof and that such meeting be held on the twenty fifth (25th) day of Feb 1865 at the Eagle Hotel in said town.
