Town Records of DeKalb Ill
We the undersigned commissioners of the town of DeKalb County of DeKalb and State of Illinois having on the 22nd day of September A.D. 1857 upon due application made to us for that purpose laid out a road as follows commencing at the south west corner of sect 28 and the south east corner of sect 27 in township 40 range 4 east of the 3rd principal meridian running thence north on the section line to the Village of DeKalb and certain owners of land through which the said road passed not having released all claims for damages by reason of laying out and opening the same and of being able to agree with them as to the amount of such damage we have decided to assess the same at what we deem just and next to each individual claimant with where we could not agree taking into account and estimating the advantage and benefits the road would confer on the claimants for the same as well as disadvantage and have assessed the damage of each owner and claimant as follows, To David Chamberlain on the south west ½ of the south east ¼ of sect 28 running 39 chains 91 links at $210.00 being enclosed land and Joseph Barber on the east ¼ of the south east ¼ running 39 chains 91 links $190.00 being enclosed lands to J. &. F. Farmer on the north east ¼ of section 27 & north west ¼ of section 28 at $480.00 being enclosed land in witness whereof we have hereto wit set our hands this 2nd day of Sept A.D. 1857.

J. E. P. Young, Henry Hopkins and William Earl do solemnly swear that we will perform the duties of Judge according to law and the best of our abilities that we will seriously endeavor to prevent fraud deceit and abuse in conducting the same and I Charles Kendall and Charles C. Needham do solemnly that we will perform the duties of Clerks according and the best of our abilities and we will endeavor to present fraud deceit and abuse in conducting the same.
