Town Records of DeKalb Ill

By order of the road commissioners of the town of and the town Etna in the county of DeKalb and State of Illinois, I have surveyed a road as follows to wit; Beginning at the north east corner of section twenty four in town 40 north of range 3 east of the 3rd principal meridian and running thence south on the line between Range 3 and 4 239 chains 57 links to the south east corner of section 36 in town 40 north R3 east and to the south west corner of section 31 in town 40 N R 4east to be laid four rods wide and passing over lands owned by Lyman Lindsay, Klock, Hiram H. Phillips, William W. Hudson, Thomas Holdings, Smith Baldwin, S. Taylor, N Smith and others and hereto wit is a correct plat of said road according to said survey.

Whereas upon the application Erastus Clark, S. N. Earl, A. Dennis, Ira Burrough and others twelve legal voters residing within three miles of a route hereinafter described for a public highway a copy of their petition having been duly posted as required by law, we the said commissioners of said town did on the 24 day of June A.D. 1858 cause a survey to be made by a competent surveyor of the following route to wit, beginning about four rods south of the south west corner of section 18 thence running eastwardly along the south line of sections and along the south line of section 17 until it strikes the center of what is usually known as the Old State road and also to discontinue so much of said state road as lies between the last named point running north west until it intersects the town line being the same as mentioned and set forth in said petition which survey is according to the annex plot and said commissioners having personally examined said tour and having had such reasons as we offered for and against the laying out of said road and being of the opinion that the laying out of the same is necessary and proper and that the public interest will be promoted thereby it is ordered and determined and the same is hereby laid out and established as follows to wit, beginning at the corners of sections 13 and 24 on the same
