Known all men by these present that we Thomas M. Hopkins of the town of DeKalb in the county of DeKalb and state of Illinois as principle and Eli B. Gilbert of said county and state as surety are held and firmly bound unto the said town of DeKalb for the use of the inhabitants of said town in the sum of six hundred dollars for the payment of which will and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators and each of these jointly severally and firmly by this present sealed with our seals and dated this 7th day of April A.D. 1864.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bounded Thos. M. Hopkins has been chosen Supervisor of the town of DeKalb for the current year. Now therefore if the said Thos. M. Hopkins shall faithfully discharge all the duties of his said office required of him by law in relation to the revenue then the above obligation to be valid and of no effect otherwise to remain in full force and effect.
