War fund board of auditors report
To E. B. Gilbert, esq., A Justice of the Peace, Town & county of DeKalb , State of Illinois
We the undersigned board of auditors on war fund would beg leave to report to you as follows, that we, in the month of March and April 1865 caused to be issued one hundred and forty two (142) fifty dollar one year town war bonds and sixth two (62) two year fifty dollar town war bonds all of them drawing en per cent interest from date:
Whole amt of bonds issued $10200.0
One years interest on the same 1020.00
$11,220.00
At our auditing meeting held Mach 28, 1865 we ordered a tax to be levied on the assessment of this town of three and 55/100 cents on the dollar for the purpose of passing off a part of the war deb as above which tax amounted to the sum of $8,075.53
Also cash on hand from private subscription 14.63
1868, 5, 05 $8,090.16
Amt of delinquent tax returned 932.87
$7,157.29
The town custodian has paid out and cancelled 119 one year bonds 5,950.00
Paid inst. on 119 one year bonds 559.08
Paid inst. on 47 two year bonds 241.55
Commission for collecting and paying out 384.14 7,134.77
