Declaration for new highway

Town Records of DeKalb Ill

The undersigned commissioners of highway for the town of DeKalb in the county of DeKalb on the petition of Walden Jones, Holister, Timothy Richardson, John M. Gooden, Wm. C. Wilcox, Wm. B. Wilcox, Wm. C. Rosebrook, C. Rosebrook, James Rosebrook, Albert Hatfield, L. B. King, J. R. Willam, P. W. Vaighn. J. B. Collier, A. H. Cartwright, R. C. Peter, Henry Hopkins, George W. Lyon, Jas. Rae, Wm. R. Capbell, George Flinn, Richard Bovee, did on the 30th day of March AD 1853 cause a survey to be made of the following route to wit (being the same route mentioned in said petition) beginning on gthe Phelps road where the line between section twenty three (23) and twenty four (24) crosses said road thence south on said line between lands owned by L. D. King on section twenty four (24) and twenty five (25) and Joel Simonds on section twenty three (23) and twenty five (25) and Joel Simonds on section twenty three (23) and twenty six (26) thence south on said line between section 26 & 25 and section s35 & 36 and between section 1 & 2 and between sections 11 & 12 and between sections 13 & 14 being not known to the south line of the town of DeKalb being a distance of fived (5) miles and sizth (60) rods and the undersigned being of opinion that it is necessary and proper that such road be made it is therefore being that a road four rods wide be located and laid out and the same is located and laid our according to said survey and the same is hereby declared to be a publick [public] highway.
