Plan for highway

Town Records of DeKalb Ill

The undersigned commissioners of highways for the town of DeKalb in the county of DeKalb on the petition of Thos. E. Needham, Wm. Patterson, Jos. Patterson, Benj. C. Needham, Alonzo Converse and several others did on the 8 day of January 1855 cause a survey to be made of the following route to wit, being the same route mentioned in said petition beginning said road as follows at the N. West corner of section 5 and the N.E. corner of section 6 in T40 forty, N.R.4E. thence south on the line between said section line 5 & 6 and between section seven and eight and between 17 & 18 to the west corner of section seventeen and the south east corner of eighteen distance three miles through lands unknown and the undersigned being of the opinion that it is necessary and proper that said road should be laid it is therefore ordered that a road four rods wide be located and laid out and the same is located and laid out according to said survey and the same is declared to be a public highway from the date thereof.

Given under our hands this 8 day of January at DeKalb Centre 1855
