An auditing meeting was held Aug. 20, at 1:30 PM for the purpose of opening bids on our used road grader. In attendance were Joe Bross, Walter Beydler, Evelyn McQueen, Geo. Latimer + Tom Pearcy. It was announced that Tom Pearcy had been secured to fill the vacancy on the Board of Auditors caused by the resignation of I. Wascher. Motion made by Joe Bross + seconded by Geo. Latimer that Tom Pearcy be appointed to fill this vacancy. Motion Carried.

Current bills were presented by Walter Beydler. Moved by Pearcy, seconded by Latimer that bills be paid as presented. Carried.

Sealed bids on our used grader were opened at this time: Four bids were received. The bid of Ed Weaver of Clare in the amount of $1800 proved to be the highest. Moved by Beydler, seconded by Pearcy that we accept this bid. Carried.

A certificate of taxes levied for road purposes for the coming year was presented by the Commissioner, amounting to $30,700. Moved by Latimer, seconded by Pearcy that it be adopted as presented. Carried. Meeting adjourned.

A regular meeting was held at the Town Hall at 7:30 PM. Those present were Bross, Beydler, McQueen, Rand, and Tindall. Supervisor Bross presented a bill from the County Collector. Moved by Tindall and seconded by Rand that same be paid. Carried.

Current bills were presented. Moved by Rand and seconded by Tindall that bills be paid as presented. Carried. Meeting adjourned.

A loose sheet of paper was inserted between pp. 382 and 383 with the following typed on it:

The Highway Commissioner, Walter Beydler, announced that he had located a used motor grader that could be purchased by the Township for $24,000, which we could finance at the Malta Bank. Moved by auditor Lowell Rand and seconded by George Latimer that we purchase same. These voting “aye” were Supervisor Bross, Town Clerk E. McQueen, Highway Commissioner Beydler, and Auditors Rand and Latimer. No “”nay” votes. Motion Carried.
