Survey of Public Road

Town of South Grove

County of DeKalb

To wit

Be it remembered that on the 17th day of June in the year of our Lord 1862 a petition was presented to us the undersigned Commissioners of highways for the Town aforesaid to lay out a new road in said town the same to commence at the quarter section corner between Sections 9 and 10 and to continue the said road East through the lands of Wm. M Byers Jesse Tindall and Jno [John] S. Brown until it (?) out a certain road running north and passing the residence of Jesse Tindall

We therefore in pursuance of the statue in that case made and provided having received the said premises and obtained a plot and delineation of said intended road from a competent surveyor commencing on the quarter section line between 9 & 10 the same continued east on said line through the land of Wm M Byers Jesse Tindall and Jno [John] S Brown to meet a certain road running northward and we the said commissioners having heard the allegations of the parties before named touching the damages they will sustain We agree to award unto the said Wm M Byers the sum of ninety dollars and to the said Jesse Tindall one hundred dollars as an equivalent for the damages they will sustain and do hereby confirm establish and ratify the said road to be a public highway within the town aforesaid Witness our hand this 11th day of March AD 1862
