Public Highway Discontinued

Town of

South Grove

County of DeKalb

To wit

Be it remembered that on the 12th day of March in the year of our Lord 1863. We the commissioners of highways for the town of South Grove convened for the purpose of taking into consideration the proposal of a certain petition presented to us by qualified citizens residing within three miles of a public highway extending through South Grove aforesaid on the half Section line of Sections 4, 9, 16, 21, 28 and 33 said petition requiring that so much of said highway lying north of a road commonly known as the State road in said town should be discontinued and expunged from the plat and list of (public) highways within the town aforesaid. We the said commissioners having duly examined that part of said road described in said petition and on deliberation consider that said pass thereof to be irreparable without a very considerable outlay for labor and materials and that there are two other roads equally convenient running parallel with said objectionable road that can be traveled in all seasons of the year and kept in repair at much less expenditure we the commissioners aforesaid unanimously agree to nullify that part of said road required by the aforesaid applicants and to resign the land which has been used for said pass of the public highway north of the State road aforesaid to the legal owners thereof

Witness our hands and seals the day and year first above written
