Petition for a New Road from Clare west

To the Commissioners of Highways of the town of South Grove, of the County of DeKalb, and State of Illinois;

The undersigned land owners residing in the town of South Grove, within two miles of the road hereinafter mentioned and described for a road, do hereby petition you to lay out a new road of the width of Sixty (60) feet, as follows:

Commencing at a point One Hundred and Sixteen (116) feet West of the Quarter Section corner on the east line of Section Twenty four (24) in Township Forty one (41). North Range Three (3); East of the Third Principal Meridian in said County, at the center of the Western extremity of street laid out in Chadwick, as shown in book 13 of plats at page 81 of the records of said County; and running thence in a northwesterly direction about Five Hundred (500) feet to the half Section line running East and West through the center of said Section 24. Intersecting said line about Fifty (50) feet West of the center line of the main railroad track now used by the Chicago, St. Paul and Kansas City Railway Company; thence Westerly along said half Section line to the Southwest corner of the Southeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section Twenty three (23) in said Township Forty one (41):

Thence North along the west line of said Southeast Quarter of said Northeast Quarter of said Section 23 about Six (6) rods to the southeast corner of farm now owned and occupied by Robert Byers; thence Westerly along the South line of said farm to the intersection thereof with the public Highway running Northwesterly and Southeasterly through the west half of said Section 23. The name of the owners of the land over which said road is to pass are: Michael Quinn, Chicago St. Paul and Kansas City Railway company, Patrick Rowe, Robert Willis, James Gibson, Robert Byers, Gotlieb Huber, Jacob Willret;
