Town of South Grove

County of DeKalb To Wit

Be it remembered that on the 16th day of January in the year of Lord one thousand eight hundred an fifty seven at South Grove aforesaid in the said County We the Commissioners of Highways for the Town aforesaid having met by appointment for the purpose of taking into consideration an application made to us for to lay out a new public Highway within said Town.

The same being Subscribed by twelve or more legal voters residing within the limits prescribed by Statute in thee made and provided and in pursuance of Said Statute having viewed the premises described in said application and Obtained a Plat an Delineation of such intended public Highway from a competent surveyor who has followed and conformed to the requirements of said application that the same public shall commence at 20 chains East of line which bisects Sections 13 and 14 on the road leading from Oregon to Sycamore at the south fence of said last mentioned road and run thence on a direct South line thro [through] the land of Mess. Safford F Carrier 7 chains thence continue South thro [through[ the land of Mess. Safford and Currier on the East & Henry A Mise on the West 133 chains thence west thro [through] the land Mr Thomas Nedcut on the East and Mr Nelson Crill on the West 40 chains to the place of termination

And we the said Commissioners having heard the complaints and allegations touching the inconvenience and damages the said Thomas Nedcut and Nelson Crillwill sustain in laying out the said intended new public Highway we agree to award unto the said Thomas Nedcut as a remuneration equivalent to the amount he will be damages and inconvenienced the sum of one hundred dollars and unto the said Nelson Crill for the amount he will be damaged and inconvenianced the sum of thirty dollars as a remuneration and expenses.

And in conformity with the laws relating to Highways we the said Commissioners do hereby establish confirm and ratify the before cited Highway with in the said Town of South Grove in the said County of DeKalb and consider the same to be essential for public convenience and located for several accommodation in a place much
