Semiannual Auditing Meeting, March 31, 1931

The meeting was called to order by W. G. McKenzie, Supervisor at the Esmond State Bank. Present were, W. G. McKenzie, Frank Barnes, Town Clerk. F. N. Goelitz, Highway Comm. Delos Welty, Assessor.

All bills presented were ordered paid.

No further business the meeting adjourned.

Annual Township Meeting + Election, April 7, 1931

The Township meeting was called to order at the Town Hall at 2:15 P. M. by Supervisor W. G. McKenzie.

The Supervisors (sic) report was read and accepted.

A motion was made by J. Hutchinson to levy a tax for One Thousand Dollars for Township expenses. Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned.

A canvass of the ballots showed the following results.

School Trustee. C. R. Dettmer.

Justice of Peace. H. L. Hanson.

Constable. Wm. Pollard.

Special Tax for Road purposes “received 33 affirmitive [affirmative] votes and 12 negative votes. Special Tax carried.

In accordance with petition duly signed, be it resolved that the Special Tax above mentioned be levied at the rate of Twenty-five (25) Cents on each One hundred Dollars assessed valuation of all the taxable property, including railroads, in South Grove Township, for a period of five (5) years, for the purpose of constructingand maintaininggravel or other hard roads and or for improving or repairing earth hard roads by draining, grading, oil treating + repairing all gravel roads in said Township. The location of said roads is as follows. (sic) 1. Beginning at the center of Sec. 31 on the South line of Township thence + running thence North to connect with gravel a distance of 5/8 mile.

2. The ungraveled portion beginning at the center of Sec 32 on the South line of Township thence running North thru center of Sec. 32 – 29 – 20 – 17 and 8 to the intersecting of the East + West highway thru Sec 8, a distance of 4 ½ miles more or less.

3. Beginning at the center of Sec. 33 on the South line of Township, running thence North thru center of Sec. 33, a distance of 1 mile more or less.

4. The ungravelled portion of highway beginning at center of Sec 35 on the South line of Twship [Township], and running thence North thru center of Secs. 35, 26, 23, and 14 to intersecting highway running East + West thru
