1936                                       Annual TownMeeting, April 7, 1936

 

The Annual town meeting was called to order at the Town Hall a (sic) 2 P. M. by Supervisor, C. G. McKenzie.  C. G. McKenzie chosen Moderator.  The Supervisors report was read + accepted.  The Highway commissioners report also the Town Treasurers reports were read + accepted.

A motion was made by Fred Goelitz + 2nd by Ralph Montgomery that One Thousand Dollars be levied against all taxable property for Township expenses.  Motion carried.  Money to be used as follows.  Salaries of Town officers $750.00.  Repairs + Maintenance $100.  Election expenses $150,00.  Motion carried to adjourn.    Frank Barnes Town Clerk.

 

1936, July 25                                                Special Town Meeting

 

A special Town Meeting was called by petition, July 25, 1936 A. D. for the purpose of levying a special tax for relief of the poor.  Meeting was held at the Town Hall at 2 P. M.  Chas. McKenzie was chosen moderator.

Motion made + 2nd + carried that five cents (.05) be levied on each One hundred assessed valuation on all the taxable property of Township.

1936, Sept 1                                      Fall Auditing Meeting

 

The meeting was called to order by the Supervisor at the Town Clerks office at 8 P. M.  Present were C. McKenzie, F. Barnes, F. Goelitz, Delos Welty, L. Totman, C. Worden.  All bills presented were ordered paid as follows.  F. Goelitz, H. Comm. 30 ½ days at $4.50 per day $243.00.  C. McKenzie Supervisor $38.45.  D. Welty, Assessor30 ½ days at $6.00 per day $183.00.  F. Barnes, Town Clerk $17.00, C. Worden Thistle Comm. 28 days 4 ½ per day $126.00, L. Totman, J. P. $3.00, Elmer Erickson (mowing) $2.50, Sycamore Tribune, Printing report $8.30.  The Highway Comm. certified that the rate of tax necessary for road + bridge purposes shall be 25 cts on each $100.00 assessed valuation for the yr. 1936.  He further certified that a majority of the Town Auditors consented to the levy + extension of a greater rate of taxes, for road + bridge purposes in South Grove township than 25 cts on each $100.00 valuation, to wit:  to the extension + levy of 35 cts on each $100.00 assessed valuation, and fixing the total amount of tax necessary for all road + bridge purposes of the $4000.00, to wit:  construction of Roads, $1000.00.  Maintenance of Roads $1000.00, construction of Bridges $500.00 Maintenance of Bridges $100.00, Purchase of Machinery $800.00, Repair of Machinery $400.00, Prevention and extirpation of Weeds $200.00.
