Annual Town Meeting April 2, 1940
The town meeting was called to order at the Town Hall at 2:00 P. M. by C. G. McKenzie. F. N. Goelitz was chosen Moderator. The Supervisor’s report and the Highway Commissioner’s report were each read and approved. The Supervisor’s report showed receipts of $3711.66; disbursements $2167.29; balance on hand $2544.37. The Highway Commissioner’s report showed receipts of $4207.90; expenditures $3059.81; balance on hand $1,148.09. Motion made and seconded that the proposed budget be accepted. Motion made and seconded that the Township tax be raised to the required amount. The necessary amount of tax required was $2300 to be proportioned as follows: Fees + salaries of Town officers $1420.00; Elections $35.00; Town Hall expense $60.00; Town officers expense $10.00; Contingencies $150.00; Relief and support of poor $625.00. Motion made and carried to adjourn.

Fall Auditing Meeting Sept. 3, 1940
The meeting was called to order at the Town Hall at 2:00 P. M. by the Supervisor, C. G. McKenzie. Also present were F. H. McQueen, Town Clerk, George Jorgenson, Highway Commissioner, Delos Welty and Joseph F. Quinn. All bills presented were paid.
The Highway Commissioner of South Grove Township requested, in writing, the consent of the Board of Auditors to levy a greater rate of taxation for road and bridge purposes for the year 1941 than 25¢ on each $100.00 valuation of the property of said Town. After considering the request, it was moved and seconded that said Board consent to said Commissioner levying an additional rate of 8¢ on each $100.00 valuation in addition to 25¢, making a total of 33¢ on each $100.00 valuation of the taxable property of said Town for road and bridge purposes for the year 1941 A. D.
There being no further business, the Meeting adjourned.
