Town Records of DeKalb Ill page 351, 1867

Town and county of DeKalb and state of Illinois
We the undersigned Board of Auditors on war fund would beg leave to report to you as follows
That on the 5th day of September 1866, there was ordered to be levied a tax of two cent on the dollar on the assessed valuation of property in this town for the purpose of paying off the whole of the remaining War Bounty debt
Which tax received from the collector amount 4404.63

Amount on hand on last year statement 22.52

Amount delinquent tax returned 668.59

The town custodian has paid and taken up 76 bonds Amt. 3800.00
Interest on bonds 572.40

There are now 10 bonds with interest left unpaid and for which the 668.59 returned as delinquent tax will be amply sufficient to pay the whole indebtedness, depending however upon the abatements

We the undersigned war fund auditing committee do hereby order the town clerk of the town of DeKalb to issue a town bond calling for $50 with interest at the rate of ten per cent from April 1st 1865 to take up a certificate issued by Morse and Ellwood Feb 15th 1865 to Morris Willey said certificate has never been present until quite lately and no bond issue to him his name having been overlooked when the bonds were issued.
