State of Illinois, DeKalb County
I, Richard Roberts having been duly elected a Constable in and for the town of DeKalb and county and state aforesaid for the reason that I desire to go into other business and will there be unable to perform the duties of said office do hereby resign the office on Constable, if the Justices of the Peace in and for said town will accept the same.

We the undersigned Justices of the Peace in and for the said town do hereby accept the within resignation for the reasons therein assigned. Given under our hands and seals this 28th day of January A.D. 1867
