Town Records of DeKalb Ill page 341, 1867

Presents that we the said Theodore W. Hatfield as principal and “Albert Hatfield” as his security jointly and severally agree to pay to each and every person who may be entitled thereto all such sum of money as the said Constable may become liable to pay on account of any execution which shall be delivered to him for collection by virtue of his office and all such damages as each and every person may sustain by reason of any malfeasance, misfeasance or nonperformance of duties on the part of said Constable.

I, Horace Scribner having been elected a Constable in and for the town of DeKalb and state aforesaid for the reason that I have not time to devote to the duties of the office, do hereby resign the office of Constable if the Justices of the Peace, in and for said town will accept the same.
