Town Records of DeKalb Ill page 366, 1867
To the commissioners of highways of the town of DeKalb in the county of DeKalb and State of Illinois. The undersigned legal voters residing within three miles of the road herein mentioned and described for a road do hereby petition to you to lay out a new road of the width of four rods, as follows. Commencing at road running west of section four (4) and run north to the town line of said DeKalb to intersect the road recently laid out by the town of Mayfield.
The names of the owners of lands on which the same is to pass are Maltby Hoyt and Wm. Hoyt and your petitioners pray that you will proceed to lay out said road and cause the same to be opened according to law.

Whereas upon the application of James Brisbee, Geo Wright, Maltby Hoyt and other twelve legal voters residing within three miles of a road herein after described for a public highway a copy of their petition having been duly posted as required by law we the said Commissioners of said town did on the 4th day of December 1867 cause a survey to be made by the county surveyor of the following route to wit, beginning at road running west on section four (4) and run north to thee town line of DeKalb Ills to intersect the road recently laid out by the town of Mayfield, to wit, beginning at the centre of the north line of the N.ED. ¼ of section four at Stone 11.8.6 twenty seven links west of stone placed in center of Mayfield road. Thence S/W 6.20 E on line between the east and one half
