Town Records of DeKalb Ill page 369, 1867

Hoyt on or before the 1st day of July 1868.  The amount apportioned, liquidated, and agreed upon between the said commissioners and Maltby Hoyt shall be seventy ($70) dollars for damages sustained by the said Maltby Hoyt by the laying out of the above described road through his land.

Now therefore, know all men by these present that I, Maltby Hoyt, for value received, do here by release all claims to damages sustained by me, by reason of laying out and opening said road through my land above described.  In witness whereof I have hereunto sent my hand and deal this 7th day of December A.D. 1867.

Where at a road was laid out on the 23rd day of Nov A.D. 1867 by E. B. Hulet, Jesse Alden and Lucian Burr, commissioners of highways of the town of DeKalb in the county of DeKalb and state of Illinois on the application of the requisite number of legal voters residing within three miles of said road as follows, commencing at road running west on section four (4) and run north to the town line of DeKalb Ills to intersect the road recently laid out by the town of Mayfield, and that the following is a correct survey made by the Co. survey or under our direction to wit. Beginning at the centre of Mayfield road thence S(V6.20.E) on line between the E and W one half of said N.E. ¼ 20.00 to the E and W road passing through said section four (4) which road passes through lands owned by us being known and described as follows to wit, through the undivided lands of Wm Hoyt and Maltby Hoyt.  The said road is to be opened by the said Wm. And Maltby Hoyt on or before the 2st day of July 1867.
