Record of a review on the Chicago and Gran Detour state road

Town records of DeKalb IL

20 L thence north 27° east 38 R 20 L thence north 63° west 20 links thence north 27° east 107.R.11.L thence east 6 1/2° variation 26 R on state road to the Whiteman and Coltonville road, and the undersigned being of opinion that it is necessary and proper that such road be laid out; it is therefore ordered that a road four (4) rods wide be located and laid out and the same is located and laid out according to said survey and that same is hereby declared to be a publick highway.  Given under our hands and seals at Orange this twelfth day of June 1850.

Commissioners of highways for the town of Orange

Orange June 13th 1850

Record of a review on the Chicago and Gran Detour state road the undersigned commissioners of highways for the town of Orange in the County of DeKalb on the application of Benj C. Needham a person liable to be assessed for highway labor in said town did on the third day of June inst. cause a survey to be made of the following route to wit:  commencing on section three (3) at the line between the east and west halves of the SE gr (ground) of sect thence altering said road so as to run NW to intersect the gr sect line at the nearest point which in your judgement shall be deemed fracticable thence following said line to the west side of section (4) being the same route mentioned in the application of Benj. C. Needham which survey is as follows to wit:  commencing on the south east gr of sect 3T.40.R.4 is 83° W, 30, R.N.69°,W,48,R to survey line W, 6 1/2° E on survey line one mile 170R to gr stake on state road and the undersigned being of opinion that it is necessary and proper that such road be laid out.  It is therefore ordered that a road four rods wide be located and laid out and the same is located and laid out according to said survey and the same is hereby declared to be a publick highway.  Given under our hands and seals at Orange this 12th day of June 1850.
