Commissioners order for a road whereas a petition has been presented to us the undersigned commissioners of the town of DeKalb of the county of DeKalb state of Illinois praying for a road to be located as follows, beginning at the center of section four (4) township forty (40) north range (4) east thence running north between lands of Wm. And Maltbie Hoit, Wm. Taylor and Peter More to the town line, we the undersigned commissioners of said town for the year of 1855 to hereby declare that we have duly viewed and caused to be surveyed and plotted said road as for petition and the accompanying plot and do hereby declare and order the same to be a public highway four rods wide.

By order of the road commissioners of the town of DeKalb in the County of DeKalb and State of Illinois I have surveyed a road as follows to wit, Beginning at the quarter section line corner at the centre of section 21 in township (40) north of range 4 east of the 3rd principal meridian and running thence north on the quarter section line 39 chains 9 links to the quarter section corner of the north side of said section 21 said road is laid 4 rods wide and passes over lands owned by Wm. And Maltbie Hoyt, Wm. Taylor and Peter More. See plot.

Road Commissioners Certificate
Where the attention of us the undersigned commissioners of the town DeKalb of the county of DeKalb State of Illinois is cited to the consideration of the highway of a certain road found recorded on the 20th page of this book the road described as follows, beginning at the stake in the centre of the road leading from DeKalb in said town to Brush Point 80 rods south of the county or half section line of section 14 in said town and running from thence south 83 deg west 210 rods to the middle of the south half of said section (14) thence a north 37 deg west 27 rods thence south 86 degs west 162 rods to the centre of the road running north & south near the house of Arson Lyon, We hereby certify that we cannot find any accompanying plot of the above survey as the law requires therefore we are of the opinion that the above described route is not a public highway in a legal sense.
