Where as upon the application of twelve or more legal voters residing within three miles of the route hereafter described for a highway a copy of their petition having been duly posted as required by law we the commissioners of highway of said town did on the second day of April A.D. 1856 cause a survey to be made by a competent surveyor of the following rout to wit, beginning at the depot around on the railroad in the centre of seventh street running thence 21c 55 E along the centre of said street to a point four rods north of blocks 39 & 40 thence N 21c 35E 6.47c to the E. L. of the NW ¼ of S 23 thence on said line 22, 50c to the N.E. corner thence N 11.50c to R. Hopkins south line thence N 3.40c to the center of the Sycamore road being the same as mentioned and set forth in said petition which survey is according to the annexed plot and the said commissioners having personally examined said route and having heard such reasons as were offered for and against laying out said road and being of opinion that said road is necessary and proper and that the public interest will be promoted by laying out the same it is ordered and determined that a road be and the same is hereby laid out and established according to the above survey four rods wide according to the plot and survey herein annexed which is declared to be a public highway the above described line being the center thence of. In witness whereof we the said commissioners had hereto set our hands this 3rd day of April A.D. 1856

We the commissioners of highways for the town of DeKalb, DeKalb county, State of Illinois do hereby award Lewis Huntley $50.00 fifty dollars to Rufus Hopkins $30.00 thirty dollars as damages there in consequences of having the above declared road through their lands.
