Road Appeal

Whereas on the 18th day of April A D 1863 James W Mason filed with the Town Clerk of the town of South Grove in said County of DeKalb an appeal addressed to said Town Clerk appealing from the assessment of damages made by the Commissioners of Highways of said Town of South Grove in laying out a highway as contained in the order of said Commissioners of Highways deposited with said Town Clerk and filed on the 21st day of March A D 1863 a copy of which said order is hereunto annexed and said Town Clerk having selected as the undersigned three of the Supervisors of said County for the hearing of said appeal and It appearing that said Commissioners of highways and three of the Petitioners in said case had been duly notified of such meeting as required by law we did proceed to hear the proofs and allegations of the parties and to consider said appeal and taking into the account and estimating the advantages and benefits the road will confer on the applicant as well as all disadvantages and have assessed the damages of said James W Mason at fifty dollars
