Order Laying New Road

Whereas upon the application in writing of Jacob Rickard, George Newell, Samuel Newell, Nicholas D. Fetterly, C. W. Detmer, H. Burgdoff, Thomas Renwick, Elijah Wiltse, E. S. Becker, J. Renwick, James W. Mason, Rufus Ecker, Thomas Vanhorn, A H. Detmer, G. A. Gillis, John McKenzie, William McKenzie, Henry Talbot, W. F. Miller, A. C. Thompson, S. G. Miller, P. J. Rickard twelve legal voters, residing within three miles of the place where a road had been applied to be laid out by them a copy of their petition having been first duly posted (?) as required by Law, we the Commissioners of Highways of said town did on the thirtieth day of June A. D. 1866 personally examine the land where the road proposed on said petition is to be laid out to wit: commencing at the half section corner between section twenty and seventeen thence north through the lands of W. T. Adee and Aaron Mowers, thence north through the lands of N. D. Fetterly and Aaron Mowers, thence north through the lands of George Newell and Samuel Newell, thence North through the lands of Henry Cristman and having before determined to lay out said road, fined (?) upon a time and place when and where we would meet to hear any reasons for or against the laying out of the same, and having concern within notices thereof to be posted (?) in three of the most public places in town prior to the time of such meeting and having met at the time and place appointed for hearing such reasons, and having heard such as were offered and being of the opinion that such of the said road is necessary and proper and that the public interest would be promoted there by and having granted the payer(?) of said Petition is (continued on next page)
