Town of South Grove
Order for Laying a New Road
Whereas upon the application in writing of Eighteen legal voters residing within three Miles of the place where a road had been applied for to be laid out by them, a copy of their petition having been first duly posted up as required by law. We the Commissioners of Highways of said Town did on the 16th day of December 1867 personally examine the route proposed in said petition for a road as follows: to wit, Commencing at the West line of the Town of South Grove on the section line between the section No. 6 & 7 and intersecting the Linneville [Lynnville] road in said Town of Linnville, and running the line of road as follows East over the lands of Rufus Ecker and John H. Patten, 80 rods to the North and South road on the aforesaid section and having before determined to lay said road fixed upon a time and place, when, and where, we would meet to hear any reasons for, or against, the laying out of the same and having carried written notices thereof to be posted up in three of the most public places in said Town, previous to the time of such meeting, and having met at the time and place, for having such reasons, and having heard such as were offered, and being of the opinion that laying out of the said Road is necessary and proper and that the Public interest would be promoted thereby and having granted the prayer of said petitioners, and determined to lay out the said road, We did on the first day of April 1868 Cause a survey thereof to be made by a competent surveyor under our directions, as follows, to wit: Beginning at stone X on the West Township line and at the South west corner of section No. 6 thence east on the section 19.59 chains to a stone in center of the Patten Road the same being the South ¼ corner of section No. 6 and that hereunto attached is a correct of a plat of said road, according to said survey (continued on next page)
