Township of South Grove in the County of DeKalb St. Ill. To wit

At a meeting of the Commissioners of Highways held at the dwelling house of Mr Matthew Thompson sitate [situated] in the Township of South Grove in the County aforesaid on the 20th day of May in the year of our Lord 1854

We the majority of said commissioners present having examined a certain petition (duly signed by legal authorised [authorized] persons being inhabitants of the aforesaid Township) which petition sets forth a very desirable and essential locality for the establishment of a Highway and particularized as follows viz. Commencing at the corner of Sections 4 & 5 on the North line of said Town of South Grove running thence South on the line between 4 & 5 do [ditto?] 8 & 9 do [ditto?] 16 & 17 do [ditto?] 20 & 21 do [ditto?] 28 & 29 do [ditto?] 32 & 33 and terminating on the South line of said Township the same running thro [through] the lands of several settled inhabitants and essential for the general public service and accommodation. We therefore having viewed and having procured a survey of the said Road, do hereby confirm ratify and establish the same as a legal Highway within the said Township.

We the undersigned Supervisors of the Towns of Sycamore Kingston and Franklin County of DeKalb, having met at the house of W H Stebbins in the Town of South Grove on the appeal of W H Stebbins, Phineas Crandall Simmon H Crandall John S Sharp, Abram Thomas Jacob, Overocker Richard Becker Thomas Vanhorn, agent for B A Shawl, from the decision of the Hiway[Highway] Commissioners of Said Town of South Grove in regard to laying out and allowing damages on a certain Road as laid out by them in said Town, reported by said Commissioners to the Town Clerk of Said Town, and filed in his office on the 15th Day of June 1854, Described as
