Order for a Highway
The undersigned commissioners of Highway for the Town of South Grove and Mayfield in the County of DeKalb and State of Illinois on the application of twelve persons legal voters living within three miles of said road did in joint action on the first day of May A D 1855 cause a survey to be made of the following route to wit. Beginning at the quarter section corner on the east side of section thirty six in Township forty one north range three east of the third principal meridian and west side of section thirty one in township forty one north range from East and running thence north on the Town line thirty chains and ninety four (94) links to corner of sections twenty five and thirty six then north on the Town line seventy nine (79) chains eighty four (84) links to corner of sections twenty four and five thence north on Town line seventy nine (79) chains eighty three (83) links to corner of sections thirteen and twenty four then north on Town line fifty nine (59) chains ninety four (94) links to the State Road leading from Sycamore to South Grove and passing over lands owned in the Town of Mayfield by Mr. Swartwood Boyce Wilkinson Safford and Byers and others.
And the undersigned being of opinion that it is necessary and proper that a road be laid out. It is therefore ordered that a road four rods wide be located and laid out and the same is located and laid out according to said survey and the same is hereby declared to be a Public Highway.
