Minutes of the proceedings of the Town Meeting A D 1856
At a Town meeting held at the School House in District No 1 in the Town and County aforesaid on the first day of April A D 1856. James Byers Jun was chosen Moderator and E G Thompson Clerk.
The following names Persons received the number of votes set opposite their respective names for the following Town Offices to wit
For Supervisor John S. Brown Had forty three votes
For Supervisor Wm M Byers Had thirty one votes
For Town Clerk E S Thompson Had seventy two votes
For Assessor Phineas Crandall Had forty votes
For Assessor John G Mason Had thirty three votes
For Collector David Powl Had twenty seven votes
For Collector William McClellan Had forty four votes
For Commissioners of Highways Benjamin Worden Had forty one votes
For Commissioners of Highways Richard Becker Had forty two votes
For Commissioner of Highways E Currier Had forty two votes
For Coms. Of Highways S McClellan Had twenty three votes
For Coms of Highway J B Orput Had twenty nice votes
For Coms of Highways David Patten Had thirty one votes
For Constable Ritchard Becker Had twenty seven votes
For Overseer of Poor Adam Miller Had twenty five votes
For Constables Ebert Sutton Had forty three votes
For Constable William McClellan Had forty three votes

On Motion Voted That four wires and post be lawful fence
On Motion Voted No horses or cattle run at large after the fifteenth day of October until the first day of April
On Motion Voted That no Bulls run at large in this Town
On Motion Voted That each man pay one dollar fine for each day his Bull run at large Lost
On Motion Voted That William M. Byers be path master for District 1
On Motion Voted That E D Bacon be path master for Dist No Two

On Motion Voted That Phineas Crandall be path master for Dist No four
