Be it remembered that on the 20th day of July in the year of our lord [Lord] one thousand eight hundred & fifty Eight at South Grove aforesaid; We the Com.[Commissioners] of highways for the township aforesaid having convened for the purpose of taking into Consideration an application made to us for to lay out a public Highway within said township & having procured a plat &aclimation of said intended highway from a competent surveyor & having viewed the premises over which the said highway is to be laid out are of oppinion [opinion] that the same is essential for general Public Convenience & in conformity with the Survey and said highway shall commence 2 ch.& 62 links west of a small bridge on the state road lying near midway between the dwelling house of Sherman Hatch & Wm M Byers, on sec 15. running thence south 15 ½ degrees west through the land of Sherman Hatch 51 ch. To the quarter Sec. corner of the South line of sec. 15 which corner bisects sec. 15 at that point, where the said highway terminates.. And we the said com. Having heard the allegations touching the damages & inconveniences the said Sherm Hatch will sustain by laying out the said highway do award unto him in consideration of such damage & inconvenience the sum of two hundred & fifteen dollars ($215) as an equivalent, & confirm & establish the same to be a public highway of one chain wide conformable with the Statute.in that case made & provide witness our hands this 20th day of July 1858
