Road Appeal

Whereas James Renwick of the town of South Grove & in said County did on the 22nd day of July 1858 appeal to us from an order & determination of the Commissioners of Highways of said town, contained in the order of said Commissioners deposited with the town clerk of said town & filed the 8th day of July 1858 a copy of which said order as well as all the papers before or in said appeal, are hereunto annexed, and we having met on the 27th day of Sept 1858 at 10 o.clock [o’clock] in the forenoon at the house of Peter J Rickard in said town to hear the proof and allegations of the parties being the time and place agreed upon by us when & where we would meet to consider said appeal & Horace S. Champlan being unable to attend we associated with the other two Supervisors, T C Wetmore, Sup of Etna, and it appearing that said commissioners of highways & them of the petioners [petitioners] in said case had case had [sic] been duly notified of such meeting as required by law We did proceed to hear the proof and allegations of the parties & to consider said appeal & we being now fully advised in the premises do adjudge order & determine that the decision of said Com. as to laying the road be confirmed & we also adjudge the the [sic] said James Renwick is entitled to twenty five dollars ($25) for his damages as aforesaid. In witness thereof we have herewith set our hands this 27th day of Sept 1858
